The students at Edison have been getting a feel for the materials they’re going to use when creating postcards. Armed with stencils, markers, watercolors and their own creativity, the students set about experimenting with designs and trying out positive slogans with their own font ideas.
At Freire, young artist and future interior designer, Auria @perfectly_imperfectaj (artwork featured above) has been working on a design project using her new app, Home Design. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/home-design-3d/id413515229?mt=8
The app has helped her think about spatial relationships and color. Speaking of relationships, our new students are having a great time with returning students. #Danceparty.
At KCapa we assigned the students to further experiment with their thoughts on hashtag art. They continued their drawings through out, some of them turned out with flame designs, another turned out to look like a magazine collage. We’re going to continue these drawing activities and see what else we can produce in the class.
This week at Vision Quest, our students worked on the Visual Journals. Students were asked to incorporate one of these statements in their collage such as: Increase the Peace, Put the guns down, Respect and Obey, I’m a playmaker or gamechanger. The students really thought it out and put together some amazing pieces. I was even inspired and produced a peice of my own titled: “The Pope is Dope” with a cool Hip-Hop spin to it.
This week at St Gabes, students are making excellent progress with their stained glass project. We will be pitching some of these ideas in our mural design meeting next week. Shout out to the whole RJY Staff for providing me with advice and resources this mural project.
